Sixty-five people of multiple faiths gathered for an evening of getting to know each other and engaged in hands-on actions to carry our vision forward! The evening, of July 16, 2008, got started with a game of "human bingo," greeting and opening prayer by T.C. Morrow of GWIPL and Foundry UMC, and introduction of the documentary by
Mohamad Chakaki of the DC Green Muslims. We viewed highlights of the first feature-length documentary to capture the breadth and vitality of America's religious-environmental movement, called Renewal.
Following the excerpts from the documentary, we formed discussion groups of 2 or 3 people - with the instruction to gather with people you were meeting for the first time. After this lively discussion time, we came back together to hear from three people taking action in their community and their own lives.
The evening was sponsored by Shomrei Adamah of Greater Washington, DC Green Muslims, Faith at Work, Teva Learning Center, Foundry UMC's Green Mission and Greater Washington Interfaith Power and Light.
