September 26, 2007: Ginny Spevak of the Earth Stewards Task Force of Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church spoke during the DC City Council Hearing on the Clean Cars Bill. Read her remarks.

February 10, 2006: Reid Detchon spoke during a public hearing of the Committee on Consumer & Regulatory Affairs of the Council of the District of Columbia on Bill 16-0515, The District of Columbia Green Building Act of 2005. Mr. Detchon is the chair of GWIPL's Steering Committee. The proposed Bill would provide incentives for energy efficiency in new building construction. Read Mr. Detchon's remarks (PDF).

MARYLAND

April 6, 2006: Maryland's Gov. Robert Ehrlich signed into law the Healthy Air Act. The Healthy Air Act will close loopholes in current air pollution protection, reduce mercury in air and fish, clean up soot that causes a variety of lung diseases, and reduce greenshouse gas emissions. Action: Send a note of thanks to Gov. Ehrlich for signing this important legislation. Gov. Ehrlich had previously expressed some opposition to the legislation, but the public support of people like YOU encouraged Gov. Ehrlich to sign the bill. VIRGINIA

May 2008: On May 8, hundreds from across Virginia joined Wise County residents in Richmond at a park across from Dominion's headquarters. They delivered to company representatives a "mile long" petition against a proposed coal-fired power plant in Wise County, VA and in favor of efficiency, conservation, and renewable energy. 2008 PHOTO PETITIONS

This spring let’s have a little fun communicating with our decision makers. In the past, we have written them letters and sent in post cards. Now it's time to send in some photos!

1. Print out a sign (or handmake one) and take people’s picture with it.
2. Have people sign on to the letter so it can accompany the pictures.
3. Mail in the letter with the signatures to our office at 4500 Massachusetts Ave NW; Washington, DC 20016, and email us the photos. GWIPL will print the photos for you and send them.
