Green Light: Postcards
Postcards to local governments to change climate policy
Finally, these advocacy actions will allow us to share our unique voice with decisions makers and promote sustainable policies to help solve the climate crisis in our region.
What Are We Urging our Local Governments to Do
Maryland: We are asking for Governor O'Malley to firmly support the Global Warming Solutions Act, which will allow us to do what scientists are telling us we need to do: cut our global warming pollution at least 20% by 2020 and 80% by 2050. Click here to download postcards.
DC: Urge Mayor Fenty to be a leader when it comes to climate change and create a comprehensive green jobs program. As the nation's capital we serve as a model for the rest of the country. Click here to download postcards.
Virginia: To tell Dominion Power: No New Coal! and to halt the construction of a purposed power plant in Wise County, Virginia. Click here to download postcards.
How to Use Them
After Hebrew school, at the Hanukah party, or at other events during the season: set up a table and as people stop by ask them to sign a postcard. At an event mingle with the crowd and get some signatures. At your committee meeting, have attendees sign them.
IMPORTANT: Collect postcards after they are signed and send them to Greater Washington Interfaith Power and Light ( 4500 Massachusetts Ave NW Washington DC 20016 ), or bring them to the Green Light Hanukah Celebration. This way we can tally how many we collect and save signers the trouble of sending in a post card.
